Who Can Apply
To apply for a Greek passport, you must:

Applicants can be adults or minors. The application must be made in person at a passport office in Greece or at a Greek embassy/consulate abroad.

Passport for Minors
Applications for minors require:
- Presence of both parents (or legal authorization)
- Child’s Greek birth certificate
- Parental ID cards
- Application fee and biometric photos
Passports for children are valid for 5 years.
Application Process
- Visit the appropriate passport office or Greek consulate.
- Submit all required documents and photos.
- Pay the issuance fee.
- Await processing (5–10 business days in Greece, longer abroad).
- Collect the passport in person or via authorized representative (if applicable).
There is no online application option, and no true “renewal”—a new passport must be issued each time.
Lost or Stolen Passport
In the event of loss or theft:
- File a police report.
- Obtain official documentation of the loss.
- Apply for a replacement with your Greek ID and new photos.
- Pay the fee as for a new passport.
Passport from Abroad
Greek citizens abroad can apply at the nearest Greek consulate. While the process is similar, extra time is usually needed for verification and shipping. Processing times can range from 2 to 6 weeks.
